New Zealand privacy framework

We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 2020. That includes collecting information only for lawful purposes connected to our functions, keeping it accurate and up to date where practicable, storing it securely, and not keeping it longer than is reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was collected.

Data we collect and why

Contact form enquiries

When you submit our contact form, we collect your name, email address, and the content of your message. We use this information solely to respond to your enquiry. Under New Zealand law this collection is authorised by you when you send the form and is necessary for a function connected with our business. Where the GDPR applies, the legal basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). We retain this data for up to 12 months, after which it is securely deleted.

If your message includes health-related or other sensitive information, you choose whether to include it. We treat such content as confidential and only use it to respond to your enquiry, unless a rare exception applies (for example where required by law).

Cookies and analytics

With your consent, we may set analytics and marketing cookies to understand how visitors use our site. Strictly necessary cookies are set without consent, as they are required for the site to function. See our Cookie Policy for full details.

Server logs

Our web hosting provider automatically records standard server log data including IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps. This is processed on the basis of legitimate interests to maintain site security and performance. Logs are retained for up to 30 days.

How we share your data

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for their own marketing purposes. We may share data with trusted service providers who help us operate the site (such as our hosting provider), under strict data processing agreements. We may disclose data where required by law.

International transfers

If any of our service providers are located outside New Zealand or the European Economic Area, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission.

Data retention

Contact enquiry data is retained for 12 months. Analytics data is retained for up to 26 months. Server log data is retained for 30 days. You may request earlier deletion at any time.

Your rights

Rights under New Zealand law

If you are in New Zealand (or we hold your personal information in New Zealand), the Privacy Act 2020 gives you the right to ask whether we hold personal information about you, to access that information, and to request correction if you think it is wrong. These requests must be answered within a reasonable time. Where the Privacy Act sets specific expectations for agencies, we aim to respond to access and correction requests within 20 working days unless we need to extend that period for complex requests, in which case we will let you know.

Additional rights where the GDPR applies

If you are in the European Economic Area or the GDPR otherwise applies to our processing, you may also have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • The right of access to your personal data and to obtain a copy in certain circumstances
  • The right to rectification of inaccurate personal data
  • The right to request deletion of your data in certain circumstances
  • The right to restrict or object to processing in certain circumstances
  • The right to data portability where processing is based on consent or contract and is automated
  • The right to withdraw consent at any time (without affecting prior processing)
  • The right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in your country or region

Privacy breaches

If a notifiable privacy breach occurs (as defined in the Privacy Act 2020), we will assess it promptly and, where we are required to do so, notify the Office of the Privacy Commissioner and affected individuals in accordance with our legal obligations.

Electronic marketing (NZ)

We do not add you to marketing lists solely because you sent a general enquiry. If we ever send commercial electronic messages to addresses in New Zealand, we will do so in line with the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007 (including clear identification of the sender and a functional unsubscribe mechanism where the Act requires one).

Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure. Our site uses HTTPS encryption for all data in transit.

Children's data

Our site is not intended for individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we have inadvertently received data from a child, please contact us so we can delete it promptly.
